We had a wonderful week
- it was delightfully cold and snowy. Getting to Freiburg in the beautiful
Black Forest region was a long journey (two flights and a bus ride), but
well worth it. All the students got many opportunities to practise their
German, whether it be buying sausages in the market or interviewing local
passers-by. Otto, with his spooky cape and lantern, gave us a lovely tour
of all the ghosts and graves of the city. We also took the longest
cable-car in Europe up Schauinsland and were in a blizzard at the top; lucky
we could all speak German and order food in the restaurant! Back in town,
the climb up the Münster-tower was hard work, but the views were superb.
The youth hostel was extremely clean and comfortable, and the typically
German food was great. Everyone can’t wait to go back.
