Our music department offers students the opportunity to study music to GCSE and A Level, and to work towards grade examinations in a range of instruments. Musicians, however, also contribute hugely to the life of the whole college through performance and also by working closely with our drama department.

The music department offers tuition in strings, woodwind, guitar, drums and piano and keyboard. Students play together in the college band and orchestra, in the traditional group, the jazz group and in several rock groups.

Stars in Yer Eyes
The annual competition open to schools throughout Northern Ireland provides a wonderful showcase for musical talent in the college, and in 2006, Shimna band Green Day, were the Northern Ireland champions.

This year, the music department has already hosted a Cabaret of Wishes and Dreams, featuring a year 8 chorus, and solo and ensemble performance from our A level and GCSE students.
