KS3 ICT at Shimna At Shimna students do a special course in ICT in Year 8 to learn how to use word processors, spreadsheets, databases, drawing and painting packages as well as using the Internet.
In Year 10 all students achieve certificates in the CEA Key Stage 3 ICT Accreditation Scheme by doing ICT projects in subjects such as English, maths, languages, history, geography, technology etc.
Throughout the school computers are used extensively in all areas of the curriculum.
GCSE ICT
ICT is a popular choice at GCSE level and our students achieve fantastic results every year.
We study the CCEA GCSE ICT course and in 2008, 96.2% achieved grades A* to C with 100% achieving grades A* to E.
A Level ICT
Our students study the AQA A Level Applied ICT course and 100% achieved grades A - E in 2009.
Our past Computing and ICT students are now studying in universities in Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.
