At Shimna we offer an integrated, academically excellent, all-ability education, and are very proud to have been designated as one of Northern Ireland’s first twelve Specialist Schools. We are particularly proud that our specialism in languages and the international dimension has been recognised by the Department of Education. We believe that language is central to the processes of integration and also to academic success. We believe that the international dimension injects high expectations and wider horizons into everything we do.
Our college is rightly proud of the reputation for academic excellence we have earned since opening in 1994. We also celebrate our success in educating our students for a society which, though more peaceful, is still faced with the challenges of finding new ways of working together, with the responsibility of building shared social and political structures and coming together to overcome enduring sectarianism and racism in our society.
