B r i t i s h / I r i s h S i g n Language entered our curriculum last year, with a dedicated group studying in an after school group. This summer they achieved level 102, and learning will continue throughout the next term taking them to level 103. As an exc i t ing new development we are wo r k i n g o n t h e possibility of offering B/I Sign Language as a GCSE subject next year. We feel that this would be a very important addition to what we offer as a Specialist Language School.

Irish Sign Language (ISL) is the sign language of the Republic of Ireland, although it is also used in Northern Ireland. ISL is a visual-gestural language, with its own grammar and principles, which are completely different from the grammatical structure of English.
